Don’t Forget to Invite Buca to Your New Year’s Eve Celebration

The last days of 2015 are flying off the calendar at lightning pace and 2016 is fast approaching. Television commercials are promoting New Year’s Eve celebrations and you are asked by everyone what you will be doing to celebrate. Lots of people love the thrill of being out and about on New Year’s Eve, but the late night event isn’t for everyone. Maybe this year you’ve decided to stay in with your extended family, your kids, a group of friends, or a special someone. We’ve got some ideas of how your personal New Year’s Eve celebration can outshine any public event.

If you are inviting friends or family over, send out invitations. No need to be fancy, a simple invite stating the time and theme (formal, pajama party) for the evening will get invitees excited. If time allows, mail your invitations but if you are looking to be eco-friendly or find yourself short on time, online invitations work just as well.

Often New Year’s Eve is viewed as an adults only event but that doesn’t have to be the case for your party. Have a family campout in the living room with sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals. Watch movies, play games, and let the kids (try to) stay up until midnight. Depending on each child’s age, ask them questions such as “What was your favorite book this year?” or “Where is your favorite place you visited this year?” Record their answers and store them somewhere safe to read in the future or put them in a time capsule with a few other small remembrances of the past year.

Gather your friends and read everyone’s horoscopes and make predictions as to where everyone will be in 5, 10, and 25 years. Play “guess the resolution” where everyone writes their resolution on a slip of paper and drops it into a bowl, then each person draws a slip and has to guess who’s resolution it is. Ask reflection questions such as “What was my biggest surprise this year?” and “What was my biggest obstacle this year?” Write future letters to yourselves that you will all agree to read next New Year’s Eve.

With any event that lasts all evening, everyone is sure to be hungry. The perfect solution is to pick up, or have Buca deliver, a few fabulous party platters. Whether you’re having a midnight dinner or an early meal with lots of snacking all evening, we have the delicious Italian-inspired dishes that will ring in the New Year on a happy note for everyone. Either set your table with your best china or huddle around the television and use the plastic utensils and plates that we provide with every order. At the stroke of midnight bang pots and pans, blow your noisemakers, toast your champagne and give someone a kiss. Then have a midnight snack of a bit more Buca!
