Chef’s Italian Cooking Tips – Marinara Sauce

  1. Make sure your vegetables are translucent when cooked.
  2. Use diced Roma tomatoes.
  3. Use tomato paste to thicken up and add richness to the sauce.
  4. Continually stir to prevent scorching.
  5. Add sugar to balance out some of the acid.
  6. To check if your sauce is done take a wooden spoon and pick up the sauce on the back of the spoon. If it stays on the spoon it’s done.
